“Karama Ambassadors” is a research and awareness program run by Al-Karama Human Rights Center for university students, trainee lawyers and activists. It involves them in documenting the experiences of Palestinian prisoners and detainees, analysing the human-rights issues these raise, and turning that knowledge into tools for advocacy and community impact.

The project combines learning with fieldwork: meetings with lawyers and released prisoners, reading legal and research material, and conducting, transcribing and analysing interviews under the supervision of lawyers and researchers. Working together, participants prepare a position paper on the prisoners, grounded in their testimonies and experiences and linked to the legal, social and political context, while upholding the confidentiality of information and the ethics of documentation.

The program aims to build a group with the knowledge and skills needed to defend prisoners’ rights, and to present their experiences as issues that concern society and its responsibility towards them. It concludes with the position paper being presented at a public seminar, opening its findings and recommendations to discussion and widening the conversation about ways to protect and support them.
